Our Stories

Bro. Henning Klovekorn (pictured left), was initiated in Lodge Concordia in 1997, "...back then I was a student at University living a students life and I wanted to aspire to something deeper and meaningful. Having just completed a degree in Diplomacy majoring in comparative religion and history, I was drawn to the secular nature of Freemasonry", Henning says, " Freemasonry was the perfect mix between social interaction of likeminded men and being part of an ancient tradition with high ideals and a higher purpose".  Some 20 years later Henning is a father of two daughters, has succeeded as CEO of an international software house and sits on various Boards including the Council for International Trade and as Chairman of the German European Chamber. "Moving through the Masonic system, taking on progressively greater responsibility and making hundreds of speeches over the years, really finessed a whole range of attributes of leadership, public speaking and working as a team, which no doubt made me a better person and a more capable business man" Henning reflects.

Friendship, loyalty and common purpose are other aspects of lodge life difficult to emulate elswhere. "I came to Freemasonry with some initial scepticism"... Simon Thomson (pictured right) exclaims. "I didn't really know what to expect. I knew some very impressive people had been Freemasons but I could not translate that to how I would fair in an organisation with such traditions, that is until I took my first step and was initiated". Simon, a 12 year veteran of the mining sector as a driller, now company Director, and long time friend of Bro. Klovekorn, became a member of Lodge Concordia in 2016.

"We cover all socio-economic backgrounds, all races, creeds and ages, we come from all walks of life, spectrums of politics and religious persuations, but we are all united in the traditions and ethics of Freemasonry, in a tradition spanning hundreds of years with an unbelievable track record of charity and human endevour to progress society" Simon remarks. "I was always friends with Henning but now we are brothers, and all Concordia Freemasons, infact all Masons in Australia and the world are now my fraternal brothers and I will never look back from the decision to move forward".
